Why do we end, why do relationships, marriages, friendships and everything that we “cherish” and so build with great effort end? How does insight into these questions help you stop suffering of endings?
Well, I don’t know the dictionary interpretation of the word, “Eternity”, but if keenly observed, the real and actual focus of the word “Eternal” is that, it does not begin and not that it does not end. It knows not growth, nor progress. It cannot be contained in the limited field of the mind and imagination because the ancient habit of the mind, is to create and begin a thought and out of that thought, there is a creation and beginning of everything concrete; like a relationship, family, recreation, occupation and so on. The very beginning of everything marks the beginning of its end. If it begins, it veers from the path of eternity and bound to end. That is the suffering of everything we begin – from thoughts to concrete beginnings. Our lack of insight in that word (Eternity) creates excruciating pain in us when things end. If we understand that anything we are able to begin: relationships, friendships, family, and life itself, lose its infinite longevity as they are formed, then we consciously remove that suffering in the event of an end. So, how can we live eternally? Is it possible? Our very birth, is a beginning and so we are bound to end. However, psychologically, it is possible to live eternally if we completely don’t create a “me”; “a persona”; an “identity”. It is out of this “me” we create a field of magnet that possess, accumulate and attract a beginning. If the mind operates without the “me”, and fully out of shape; out of identity, out of possession and desire to accumulate and attract, then there is complete escape of suffering, and ending.”
