‘DEFINING’ GOALS – THE DANGERS.
Together, not by the authority or experience or wisdom of the Writer, we examine the dangers of defining goals in life and if goals are ultimately necessary in life, and how defined and specified goals can cause enormous injuries to people, and other innocent victims of those ambitious ones.
If you have a sprouting teenager, young adult, or any other, (perhaps you) who have “vowed” to achieve or do this or that at a specific (defined) time or period, with so much ‘fire in their eyes’, then you should be worried and notice this:
A depth of truth about life is that, there has been a profound distortion of what it means to be successful and how one has to view life holistically. That distorted picture created in front of us, wires our whole being to tow a certain (accepted) path.
One of these dangerous paths is goals and how meeting a goal in life makes you successful and complete.
This Path, is first of all, purely individualistic and never take into consideration the impact it may have on others, situations and even oneself. It is not surprising to hear, especially young men and women, say that they would want to get rich at a certain age, build at a certain age, have children, marry and so many other defined and specified goals
Seriously, such ambition, become very ‘dangerous’ to the bearers and society at large. Invariably, what this means is that “by hook or by crook, I must, say have a child or be rich at age 23. That is a defined goal and obviously very foolish, aside being dangerous. Why? Because naturally, logically, and even religiously, we are aware that we don’t have absolute visions of incidents of our (future) life. That is why sometimes to be too hopeful, too confident or too daring is foolishness. A little Vulnerability, Hopelessness and Doubts in our life makes a big difference for our growth and well-being.
Further, such ambitious people can as well kill, corrupt, covert, deviate, and do any other thing or blood-and-sweat demanding sacrifices in order to achieve those “defined and specified goals” – In fact, such ones are the ones society should beware of. Those ones might also risk their very well-being by trading so much to achieve ‘vanity’, and some end up shattering their lives in the event of failures.
It is an apparent truth, and a wake up call to really ‘conscientize’ ourselves and especially our young ones not to have any defined goals in life. Most often, those defined goals become too big steps – almost an illusory fantasy.
Teach them to take simple steps in life and leave room for eventualities. Above all, let them understand what true success and real goal of every life is – that is, to blossom with compassion, love, joy and happiness for oneself and for humanity – With this, they create a physical, mental and Spiritual harmony with their inner-being.
